The new season's here, or at least in theory it is. Spring 2011 here we come. I know Pre-Fall 2011 is already circulating but I find it hard to be so far ahead. Since there's still snow on the ground I can't imagine gearing up for yet another winter. So back to spring...there's not much chance of getting anything neutral this time round I'm afraid. It's all bright and thank god for the change. After all the nudes and blacks, even though it's been a blast, what a relief it will be to shed the layers and the understated. Though I don't like to change my aesthetic based on season or trend, I think you can let them influence you without loosing your individuality.
It's obvious the 70's have been an inspiration for a lot of designers with the usual emphasis on colour and pattern for this time of year. My picks are mixed with Emilio Pucci (Jane Birkin dress), Etro, Derek Lam's love of the 60's, Christopher Kane's 'Princess Margaret on acid', Karen Walker's dream collection, Jil Sander's voluminous colour, Celine's sportiness and a surprise in Adam and Thakoon's girl-next-door appeal. Not to mention Isabel Marant. Though I wasn't as taken by her latest despite it's Californian inspiration but my loyalty remains iron-clad. All round there was glamour which ever which way it was thrown. It's looking up for spring.
I know I went a bit over-kill on the pictures, but the aim was to inspire complements of Style.com.
