I'm INTO THE GLOSS

This is a brilliant site. It's all about beauty. But it's more than just beauty talk with interviews of high-profile people in the industry, it's a fascinating insight into what people are actually using, what's actually in their bathrooms. It's the kind of idea that leaves you thinking why didn't I think of that? It's great to have a place to go and be inspired and stay informed about what's going on. I'm a sucker for beauty products that add the slightest of colour or the most flawless, natural finish. I have this desire to find the ultimate of all products. The cream of the crop.

To add to the ongoing discussion I've debriefed my routine;
I don't like to look done. The basics are more important, clear skin, healthy hair and staying toned. Everything seems easier when you have these things down. I try to work out everyday because it makes me feel better than any product.

For my skin I use Clinique's three step system as well as their superdefense with SPF25 and comfort on call allergy relief cream. I have dry sensitive skin, a winning combination when you add Swedish weather. Dermalogica is also really good and I alternate between the two when I can afford it, their mud masque is my favourite.

In the morning I use foundation under my eyes, a slick of eye shadow, mascara, blush and lip balm, no gloss. Having mostly used Clinique mascara because it doesn't reak of chemicals, I wanted to change to something more defined. Now I use Chanel Imitable Intense Mascara in Noir-- it has a bit more punch than the original Imitable and it's very black. I love Bloom's eye shadow in Eskimo one I've been using since my brother bought it for me one Christmas. It makes you look awake even when your not. I also use Chanel's powder blush 'In Love' because it's more bronzed peach than pink so it warms up my skin tone. And I can't go without my Lucas Paw Paw Ointment for my lips. I've used it since I was a kid and there's just nothing else like it.

My most recent purchase's are Chanel's cream shadow in delta gold, it feels quite 70's and unlike most it doesn't slide and Rouge Allure in Excessive, which is in between an orange and a classic red. At the moment I'm on the hunt for a foundation. I thinking of getting Laura Mercier's tinted moisturiser with SPF 20 recommended to me by a friend. For night time I smudge my top lash line with black crayon by Lancome it's soft and doesn't flake. For something more glamorous I use liquid liner instead. Though I've only ever bought cheap liquid liner from the chemist and it tends to burn so I want something more gentle. Probably Chanel's...I'm a little biased here but I love the subtlety of the products, they're right on the money when it comes to colour, the shape of brushes etc. and of course the beautiful packaging.

Hair wise I don't over work it with straightening etc. I get a cut and highlights every 6 months or whenever I can't stand it any more. I use L'oreal lumino contrast for highlighted hair, it's pink and smells like candy. I also use an moisture hair masque because I've gone lighter in the past year and it's taken it's toll. Before I dry it I run Kerastase's  nectar Thermique through to protect it from the heat. It's amazing.

I never go to the salon to have facials or manicure/pedicure's because I don't see the point when you can do it yourself. Brightly painted nails make my day so I keep them nice, once the paint chips I remove it straight away. My favourite hand cream is Crabtree & Evelyn's Summer Hill. It smells of summer in Australia.

Articles on Jen Brill, Izzie Burch and Amy Astley were particularly great. What I wouldn't do for the contents of Jen Brill's bathroom...
