We've just come back from staying at a friend's country house for a few days and it's stinking hot in the city. I'm looking at all these summer images and wondering if it's really possible to feel as beautiful as they look when it's this hot. I think maybe in a place that's more used to taking the heat- somewhere like Greece. Have just started my 'To Pack & To Wear' list now.

No work for two weeks- it's holiday time.

I love Danish Cover magazine. There's something special about this shoot though, especially when you see it in print. It's a shame that there's not an English translation of the articles in the back like some others do. I can understand some of it but I don't know that I'll manage learning Swedish, French and Danish- the later two just for the sake of reading international magazines. I think it might be a bit ambitious, even for a dreamer like me.

Finally, it's summer. We have sun but it's not vacation yet, not for me yet anyway. There is however less work to do, which means more time to do other things like wind down. I still have some study to do for a class I'll be teaching next semester and some writing to finish, but aside from that it's pretty relaxed. Bikini's and books have been bought in preparation...and I've started reading "The Vacationers" by Emma Straub- hopefully it's good. The image above makes me want to go camping again- a strange thing to want when I have a mediterranean holiday ahead of me- I must still be homesick.

Lately I've been thinking about friendship so it was interesting to read the article about Poppy and Alexa's this week in The Edit. Poppy said, "My friendships are hugely important to me; my girlfriends are like family...Good friendship can make your heart light; it can make you feel giddy; it can make you feel like when you fall in love."

Feeling a bit homesick but listening to Crowded House helps.
